Associated Professor Bui completed his optometry degree at the University of Melbourne in 1995. He went on to obtain a Masters and PhD in the areas of retinal development and ischeamic eye disease. He was awarded an National Health and Medical Research Council CJ Martin post-doctoral fellowship to undertake work at Devers Eye Institute (Portland, Oregon, USA) studying ganglion cell dysfunction in models of glaucoma. He is currently Deputy Head of the Department of Optometry & Vision Sciences at the University of Melbourne. He holds National Health and Medical Research Council and Australian Research Council project grant funding and an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship focusing on understanding the risk factors underlying age-related neurodegeneration and developing novel ocular imaging tools.
